From February 1 to 7, Looking Glass Foundation joined individuals, communities, and organizations across the country to mark Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) 2025a national movement to raise awareness, educate the public, and inspire change.

This year’s campaign theme, Embracing Possibilities, focused on breaking down barriers and illuminating new pathways to care. Through community-driven initiatives, innovative programming, and cross-country partnerships, we took collective action to transform the eating disorder care landscape—making it more inclusive, accessible, and compassionate for all.

Why EDAW Matters

Eating disorders affect people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, socioeconomic classes, abilities, races, and ethnic backgrounds. EDAW unites eating disorder organizations nationwide in a shared mission to ensure equitable access to care and to challenge the stigma that still surrounds these illnesses.

Led in collaboration with the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC), this year’s campaign emphasized the power of local communities to shape supportive environments and reimagine systems of care.

Highlights from EDAW 2025

Learning & Support Opportunities

Free Webinar: Safe & Healing ED Spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities
Looking Glass partnered with Body Peace Canada and Sheena’s Place to deliver a free national webinar featuring community leaders in eating disorder care. Together, they shared best practices to foster safety, trust, and belonging for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.

Support Group-a-Thon
Community-based organizations across Canada opened their virtual and in-person doors for free and low-cost support programming, helping to centre underserved communities and topics often left out of ED conversations.

Online & Community Events
NEDIC’s national events calendar offered a wide range of educational and healing-focused opportunities, amplifying diverse voices and tools for recovery across the country.

Local Activations & Community Partners

Zaleska Jewelry
Our returning partner, Zaleska Jewelry, donated 20% of proceeds from The Collection during EDAW—merging fashion with purpose in support of inclusive care.

WIRTH Hats
We launched a special edition Healing Happens Together dad cap in partnership with WIRTH Hats, with $25 from each hat sold supporting Looking Glass’ life-changing programs.

Echo – Film Fundraiser & Awareness Event
Hosted at La Fabrique St-George in Vancouver, this February 3 fundraiser brought people together through food, music, and storytelling to raise funds for the development of Echo, a short film aiming to reduce ED stigma. 20% of proceeds benefited Looking Glass.

Community in Action

#ShowUsYourPurple
Supporters across BC took part in our annual call to action by wearing purple and lighting up landmarks in solidarity. Iconic locations like Vancouver City Hall, BC Place, the Parliament Buildings, and Science World glowed purple to mark the week.
